An immersive site specific show which strengthens children’s creative and academic learning and life skills through immersive storytelling – the programme encourages children to free their imagination, tell their story, write what they feel and create a unique devised performance.
Theatre on the High Street was a temporary, pop up theatre space within the Whitgift Centre, Croydon run by Zoo Co from May 2018 - January 2019. Supported by Arts Council funding, we turned a long-standing empty shop into a creative space to serve the Croydon Community.
We were fortunate to embark on international partnership whilst staying in our home at Stanley Arts. Funded by British Council Indonesia’s ‘Connections Through Culture’ programme, we underwent a 5-day digital residency with Sakatoya, a theatre collective in Jogjakarta that drives themes of sustainability in their design-led work.
Across 6 (mostly) glorious days in August, Zoo Co brought a theatre tent to Surrey Street Market in Croydon. From Poetry Takeout to a Puppet Zoo, dancing Drag Kings to a MESSY mayhem of a show, we had an incredible time meeting over 1,000 people from all over Croydon, and beyond!
Self-Care Club was a free digital programme and creative care package for 15 - 18-year-olds living or studying in Croydon, from 25th January to 5th March 2021. We knew the government has failed young people during this pandemic. This project is about finding time for self-care, creativity and togetherness during the third national lockdown
